Once both parties have completed Guided Review and Approval (if applicable), the Deal moves to the Signature Stage.
At this point, the parties execute the Cover Page using either an electronic signature workflow or by signing outside the Bonterms Platform.
Option 1: Initiate Signature / Sign On Platform
If your organization has connected an e-signature provider, click "Initiate Signature" to begin the signing process:
The Bonterms Platform will send the Cover Page to the designated Signers for review and signature.
Depending on your organization's configuration, Signers may:
- Sign through your connected e-signature provider (such as Docusign).
- Sign directly within the Bonterms Platform using Inline Signature.
Once all required Signers have completed signing, the Deal will be marked as Completed / Done.

What Happens After I Click Initiate Signature?
After signature has been initiated:
- Signing requests are sent to all designated Signers.
- Signers receive instructions on how to access and sign the Cover Page - either through an e-signature platform like Docusign, or directly in Bonterms.
- The Deal remains in the Signature Stage until all required signatures have been collected.
- The Deal's signer structure is locked. Signers may be replaced, but additional Signers cannot be added and existing Second Signer positions cannot be removed.

Option 2: Sign Off Platform
If you use an e-signature solution not currently supported by Bonterms, or if you prefer to coordinate signature outside the platform, you can sign the Deal off platform.
The sender of the deal is the one who must initiate signing a Deal off platform.
How to Sign Off Platform
- Download the Cover Page in PDF or DOCX format.
- Obtain signatures using your preferred process.
- Once all required signatures have been collected, click the three-dot menu next to the Download button.
- Select "Sign Deal Off-Platform", which marks the Deal as completed.
- Upload the fully executed PDF, either from the three dots menu on the Deal page itself, or from the three dots menu next to the Deal on the Done tab of the Dashboard.
The completed PDF will be stored with the Deal for future reference.
Important
Only use Sign Deal Off Platform if the signed document reflects the final version of the Cover Page agreed to by both parties. If changes are made to the Cover Page after it is downloaded, those changes will not be reflected in the signed document.
Do not use Sign Deal Off-Platform if there have been changes to the contents of a Cover Page after downloading from the Bonterms Platform.
Multiple Signers
A Deal may have up to two Signers per party.
When a Second Signer has been added:
- Both Signers are required to sign.
- Either Signer may sign first.
- The Deal will not be considered fully executed until all required Signers have completed signing.
