A Signer is the individual authorized to sign a Deal on behalf of their company.
When a Deal reaches the Signature Stage, the Signer is responsible for executing the Deal Cover Page.
How Signing Works
When the Cover Page is ready for signature, the Signer will receive a signing request over email.
Depending on the signing method configured for the Deal, the Signer may:
- Sign through an integrated e-signature provider, such as Docusign.
- Sign directly within the Bonterms Platform using the Inline Signature feature.
Once all signatures have been collected on both sides of the Deal, the Deal can be fully executed and completed.
Do Signers Need a Bonterms Account?
No. Signers on both sides of the do not need a Bonterms account to sign a Deal.
A Signer who does not have an account will receive a signing request via an email magic link, and can execute the Cover Page without creating an account on the Bonterms Platform.
If a Signer is a Bonterms user and has been added to the Deal Team, they continue to participate according to their assigned Deal Role and permissions until the Deal reaches the Signature Stage. By default, Signers act as a Viewer of the Deal until the Signature stage. Signers that are Bonterms users will also be able to view and track all deals they are are assigned to on in their own personal Dashboard.
Multiple Signers
A company may have one or two Signers assigned to a Deal.
When a second Signer is added:
- Both Signers are required to sign.
- Either Signer may sign first.
- Both Signers have the same permissions and access.
- The Deal is not considered fully executed until all required Signers have signed.
